Where do you keep your pet mice while cleaning the cage?

This week, I bought three pet mice - the sweetest things you've seen. Today, I decided it was time to change their bedding, and faced a problem - how to prevent them from escaping while they're not in the cage?

I somehow managed it using an empty flower pot, but there were two major drawbacks to this method: first, I plan to plant a calathea in this very pot, so it won't be available next week, and second, they found out that they can jump to the rim of the 25 cm high pot, and I had to guard them the whole time.

So please give me some advice, where to keep them? They aren't tame yet and I'm afraid that I won't be able to catch them for days if they escape.

You can either get another (spare) cage or a small pet carrier for when and if they need to be separated at any time as well.

A box that you can fold up and that is very tall.

Congrats on your new friends!!!
I put mine sometimes in the bathtub or sometimes in a bin or box.If you don't have those materials,or you need more imformation, ask some experts of mine.Their names are Sofia and Mark, and both are veterinarians.Their email is Pet_service@yahoo.ca .Hope they can help!
In the bathtub with the drain covered.
Try large tupper ware or one mouse per peanut butter jar with holes already punched in the lid.
How about a shoe box,or a stew pot they can't climb up the walls in there.
umm....if you dont have any spare cages you can get a shoe box and poke little holes in the top of it and keep it near you......

Hope this helps...
spare cage
If you put them on your neck, they will run circles on you giving quite the tickle. Never lost mine that way.
In your pocket
shoe box,ice cream container, dont forget the holes
A rubbermaid tub always worked best. Or, a tall box of some kind.

Good Luck!!
I used to keep mine in one of those little balls made for them to run around the house in, so they could get excercise and have fun while i cleaned their cage.
in the bath put the plug hole in or even a bucket and put something over it and leave an inch gap for air
Go to Petsmart - there you will find a small plastic cage called a Creeper Keeper, they come in several sizes. Get one and keep it especially for holding your mice while you clean their cage. It's what it's made for and it's what I use for my snake.
either keep them in your pocket or in a deep plastic tub.
I put mine in a critter keeper. It's a clear plastic box, about the size of a shoebox, with a snap-on lid.

It's like this:

You can find them at almost every petstore, and also at Walmart.
How long does it take to clean the beeding? would a cardboard box work.....you'd probably have to seal the top...
I keep mine in the microwave.

But that can get messy at times.
