Speed of light and computer displays?

If you have a dual display computer (one computer, two monitors with the desktop stretched across both), how would the display time be affected by distance between the monitors? For example, if were to theoretically set the monitors apart by 1 mile, would there be a lag between when your mouse pointer moved off the edge of Monitor A and when it appeared on Monitor B? How long of a lag would that be? Would it change the further you set the monitors apart? What's the threshold?

While current travels through circuits at very close to the speed of light, the operation of circuits is governed by timer chips so that propagation delays do not create what are called %26quot;race conditions%26quot; within circuits, which leaves them in an indeterminate state and causes their behavior to be unpredictable.

Refresh rate on the monitors governs how fast they are updated, and it is very, very much slower than the speed of light.

The signal travels through the monitor cable at close to the speed of light, so the cable would have to be a light year long before you noticed about a 1 second difference between updates. Good luck watching that :)

The picture that is rendered to your monitor is controlled by the OS, which creates this in memory and sends it off to the video buffer, control of the cursor takes place in the OS too, so it is the length of the cable to the monitor that would affect delays in seeing the update because the pointer is not physically moving to another location, it just appears as if it is.

Its the speed of light, it'll be there instantly, you're probably gonna need a good amount of power to make that happen though.
Yes, there would be a lag, but for a one-mile distance between monitors, the lag is still only about 5-10 microseconds (0.000005 second). This is far below the refresh rate of the monitor (0.01 to 0.016 second), so you wouldn't even notice it.
How good is your eyesight? You can see a mouse pointer on a monitor a mile away? Call the Guiness world record people.
